The novella follows the story of Dr. Henry Jekyll, a respected and successful London physician, who becomes obsessed with separating the good and evil aspects of his personality. Through scientific experimentation, Jekyll creates a potion that transforms him into the sinister and amoral Mr. Edward Hyde. Initially, Jekyll revels in the freedom and liberation that Hyde provides, but soon discovers that his alter ego's actions are increasingly depraved and uncontrollable.
